SECURITY AND UTILITY DEPOSIT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (SUDAP)

Application Process and Guidelines

PROGRAM INTENT

The Sarasota Office of Housing and Community Development (OHCD) accepts applications on a first come first serve basis for its Security and Utility Deposit Assistance Program (SUDAP).  The SUDAP Program was created to address a critical need of low and very low income households participating in one of the following Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) programs: the City of Sarasota & Sarasota County Section 8 Programs, the City of Sarasota Public Housing, and the City of Venice Public Housing.  SUDAP will provide loans from the Federal HOME Partnership (HOME) Program to qualified participants.

All applicants must have a need for assistance and have completed the verification process.  Each applicant must have been issued a housing choice voucher/certificate for the Section 8 Rental Assistance Program, or bring to Sarasota County or the City of Sarasota a verified portable voucher to be used in Sarasota, Manatee or Charlotte Counties or be accepted for tenancy at one of the Public Housing developments located in Sarasota County.  The request for assistance must be made by the client and cannot be made by the landlord.
